A great mistake
一个美丽的失误,却成就了一个家庭。
I work as a postal letter carrier (邮递员)in Charlotte. One day several years ago, I drove up to a mailbox. Christy, the young divorcee(离了婚的人) who lived there, was waiting by the roadside. She said that she had a story to tell me.
About six months earlier, it seemed that I had delivered (递交)a letter to her, which had her street number on it but was addressed to another house with the same number on a different street in the neighborhood. She decided to drop off the letter at the correct house.
It turned out that the letter had been intended for Johnson,(结果证明这封信原本是寄给约翰逊的) who happened to be single.(单身)They talked for a little while, and later on he called. (他俩聊了一小会儿,后来他就给她打电话了)Then they started dating(约会) and had been going out together ever since.
I felt sorry for delivering the letter wrong, but I was pleased that I had brought these nice people together.
A few months later a For Sale sign went up in Christy’s yard, (几个月以后,一个写着出售的告示牌出现在克里斯蒂的院里)and then the wedding (婚礼)invitations were sent out. Soon the house was sold, the wedding happened, and Christy, with her kids moved into Johnson’s hous
